Sand and Seas Project for Preschoolers

Sand and Seas Project for Preschoolers

Things are really starting to heat up around here and even though we only made it to the beautiful Presque Isle beach just once, we have taken a walk along the shore by our house and collected some sea glass.   I had some sand stashed away from our popped punching bag, so when my 3 year old Chipmunk asked if we could do a sand project, I knew just what to do! We got out our beach stamps and away we went!   Want to follow along? What You Need: Glue Sand Containers to split up sand … [Read more...]

Story Time in the Park: Dinosaurs

Story Time in the Park: Dinosaurs

Things have wrapped up early this summer for our Story Time in the Park program (due to a new baby arriving any day).  We finished our last session this week and I wanted to try to share as much as I could before signing off for a bit. Dinosaur Preschool Story Time We had been trying a new format to try to get kids and parents a little more involved and hands-on during story time, but it turns out it's a little hard to engage 10+ preschoolers in a brand new activity at once.  So, instead, … [Read more...]

Following God’s Path: A Lesson in Bible Study for Kids

Following God’s Path: A Lesson in Bible Study for Kids

While we were studying the Catechism for boys and girls during our midweek program a few months ago, we spent a week learning about Following God's Path. To introduce the topic (and to pique some interest), I taped some animal tracks down on the ground starting at the front door.  Some headed into the sanctuary and some led all the way to the … [Read more...]

Great Resource to Check Out: Family Ministry

Great Resource to Check Out: Family Ministry

I am in the middle of reading through Seven Family Ministry Essentials by Michelle Anthony and Megan Marshman.   I'm not ready to post a full review yet, but wanted to give you a quick review and let you know this is a resource you will want to pick up! Like everything I've read from Michelle Anthony, this book was both challenging and inspirational. Michelle does not beat around the bush when calling ministry leaders to the highest standards, but she also shows a clear path in how to … [Read more...]

Operation Christmas Child Yard Sale

Operation Christmas Child Yard Sale

The tables in our church gym are full of stuff.  Boxes filled with old clothes, dish sets, toys, and a whole lot more.  Normally, I don't endorse this sort of thing, but this time, it's for a good cause. The Operation Christmas Child yard sale is just around the corner! Last year, our Shoe Box coordinator extraordinaire came up with an great idea.  While you can't put old toys and stuffed animals in a shoe box to send overseas, you can gather them all up, hold a giant yard sale and use the … [Read more...]

Preschool Story Time: Mammoths

Preschool Story Time: Mammoths

This is actually a story time from last year, but I just realized I never posted about it and you never know when someone might need some ideas for a Mammoth themed event! For our book, we read: How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth It's a very light-hearted book and the kids loved guessing about what was going to happen next. For our craft, we were inspired by a craft seen on Learn, Create, Love.  Click on over to that blog to get the free printable template. We cut most of the pieces out … [Read more...]
