We were sitting at the airport gate, looking forward to our Texas trip when Mike’s phone rang with an alert that our connecting flight to Houston had been cancelled. We were to board in about seven minutes, so I quickly got on the phone and tried to make other arrangements. Apparently when there is a potential for ice or snow in Texas, everything shuts down. There were no flights arriving till Saturday afternoon, pretty much defeating the entire purpose of the trip. So, with great disappointment, we cancelled the flight, the hotel, the car rental and then I called Kingsland Baptist to let them know we wouldn’t be making it. When Vicki, the event coordinator, heard the news, she replied: “You didn’t get my email? The whole event is cancelled.” Good thing we didn’t get on that plane!
Kingsland is hoping to reschedule the Pastor track into some kind of workshop in April, and we’d love to join them. But for now, instead of being in Texas this weekend, we’re spending some quiet time at home. It’s a nice change of pace.
Another change on the horizon is a revamp of this blog. My webmaster, author of aTypical Guy, has been working steadily on updating the look of things around here and now needs some time to switch the format over without me constantly posting and tweeking things. So, for the next week, things will be quiet on the Growing Kids Ministry front. Be sure to tune in again on February 11th for the big reveal. See you then!
