Welcome to my 31 Days of Bible Lesson Extras Series!
In this series, you’ll find games, teaching ideas, crafts, and more for those times when you just need “a little something extra” to round out your time with the kids. You can check out the complete Table of Contents for this series here.
Today, I’m going to show you an interactive display created by one of our preschool teachers when we were learning about the creation account from Genesis.
What You’ll Need:
- Coloring pages for Adam and Eve (our pictures came from What’s in the Bible)
- Animal pictures
- Pictures of sun, moon, stars
- Representation of God (we used a cloud, again from What’s in the Bible)
- Craft sticks
- Sand or dirt
- Plants, grass, twigs, vegetables, etc
- Small tote/container
What to Do:
To begin, assign a specific day of creation to each child by giving them the appropriate things. For example, the child(ren) who is/areassigned day #3 can hold only the plants, twigs, etc. As you are introducing the story, have kids either color their picture or glue it onto a craft stick (or both).
Remind kids that in the beginning, there was nothing but God. You may want to start with the lights off with the teacher holding the God cloud.
As you go through the days of creation, have the kids place the appropriate things into the sand/dirt in the container. For example, on day #6, have everyone holding a land animal place their creation into the sand/dirt (we used a ripped up board book for added stability).
As you tell the account, remind kids that Adam and Eve were created in God’s own image and that people are very special to him.
Here’s a peek at our complete creation display, build by the preschool class!
I especially love the light up star that the teach found for day #4!
Hope this helps!
