Welcome to Day #10 of my 31 Days of Bible Lesson Extras series. Check out the full list of postings here!

Here’s a quick and easy game we played during our Children’s Church program (ages 4-9) while we were learning about Self Control and the Fruits of the Spirit.  We used it as an opening activity and the kids really loved it.

What You Need:

  • 1-2 blown up balloons
  • Clear pathway to the “goal”
  • Some kind of goal to put balloon in (we used the trash can)

Self Control Balloon Game (Fruits of the Spirit) (2)

What You Do:

Select 2-3 kids to participate in the activity (you probably won’t have time to have all the kids do it).  If you want to up the energy, you could do it as a race.   The object of the game is to get the balloon into the trash can without it touching the floor.  If it touches the floor, you’re automatically out.    Kids must go slow and steady if they want to maintain control of the balloon.  If you want, you could keep track of times and play again at the end of class for a self-control champion.

Hope it helps!
