Blog of the Week: A Different Way

The Reviews!

Get ready for the blog reviews to begin!  This week, we’ll be focusing on Joey’s blog, A Different Way.  So, shoot on over and browse a bit.  Then answer a few (or all) of these questions for our friend:

  1. What do you think of the lay-out?  Is is easy to navigate?  Does it draw you in?
  2. What is one post you especially liked?
  3. What do you think of the posts in general?  Too long, too short?  Interesting? Engaging? Topical?
  4. What would you like to see on the blog?
  5. What would you like to see taken off the blog?
  6. Feel free to add any other comments of your own!

Here’s a few Joey added:

  1. Content
    1. Which types of posts are most helpful?
    2. If you were a first time visitor, who would you say is the target audience?
  2. Layout
    1. Is it readable?
    2. Should I add or take away “gadgets”?
    3. Is it easy to subscribe and share posts?

If you’d like to email me ( your responses, I’ll pass them on to Joey anonymously.   Enjoy!

This Week’s Task

This week’s task (#13) is to hit the mall!  I know, I know, it’s right after Christmas and I bet you’re sick of the mall! Fret not, this is much more of a laid back trip.  Take about 30 minutes to wander around, noticing the shoppers, what they are doing, who they are with, what kind of advertising seems to be prevalent, etc.    Check out the workbook for more ideas and questions to ponder.  Then, grab a coffee and try your hand at some application.  How does this hot spot relate to your blog?  Darren shared some of his insight here.  What are some things you learned?

  1. I actually did this assignment right before Christmas (I was reading ahead, and had some downtime). It was a neat exercise, and a nice change of pace for a working/thinking environment.

Of course, right before Christmas, there were TONS of sales, trying to lure people in. Spoke a lot about blogging — we have to give people a reason to “check us out,” and even more of a reason to come back. Bath & Body Works is a place that almost always gives you a coupon that can only be used on future dates. Sneaky.

Also, I wound up writing 2 blog posts about my experience.

  2. Free time before Christmas, Joey? Must be a guy thing.

  3. No not for all guys. I was swamped with family and ministry stuff. No spare time for this guy.

  4. Yeah Todd, it seems like you had a pretty full plate this season!
