We’re beginning a series on Friendship in our Wednesday night midweek program and we start the series with the ever-heralded friendship of David and Jonathan.  I picked up the curriculum from Children’s Ministry Deals during the amazing Black Friday deal (grab a sample here).  The series has some great content for large group, but the small group component is a little lacking, so I’ll be putting up some crafts and activities here to coordinate with each week’s lesson.    Hopefully it will benefit my team and the readers of this blog!

Crafts and Activities for David and Jonathon

#1 Worksheets and Word Puzzles

Bible Wise is always a great site to find a few word based puzzles.  Most of the time, these can only be used with readers, but I did stumble upon one that even preschoolers might be able to complete.

Find it at Bible Wise

Also at Bible wise are discussion questions and coloring pages.

#2 Bow and Arrow Crafts

The bow and arrow was an essential part of this week’s story, and would serve as a great reminder for the kids.

Arrows and Quiver Craft

Find this simple bow and arrow craft made with craft sticks and construction paper over at Bible Crafts and Activities.

David and Jonathan Friendship Craft

This craft from Hands on Bible Teacher uses a pringle can as quiver and explores the characteristics of a good friend.

This one takes a bit of prep work, but the end result will be something kids love.  Find the full tutorial for this craft stick bow and arrow at She Knows.

# 3 Friendship Themed Activities

Making friendship bracelets would be a great activity for any age.  Find one example at Teach Preschool using colored straws (pictured below).   Colored beads would be great for the older kids to use.  Have them make one and then give it away to a friend at church.

Friendship Bingo: Getting to know the other kids in the group is a great way to deepen friendships.  Grab this Friend Scavenger Hunt Sheet and have the kids sign in the appropriate places!
