Tell the Good News {31 Days of Bible Crafts}: Paul and Lydia

The other day, my kids (age 2 & 3) came home from their Wednesday night Tiny Tots class, proudly waving this craft around for all to see.  I thought the craft was adorable, what really impressed me was hearing the kids say their verse from the lesson.

Tell the Good News to Everyone

I have to admit, I haven’t been too diligent about teaching the kids memory verses, and I was awed that they really learned a verse in just the span of an hour.  They are still saying the verse weeks later. Well, my 2 year old sounds kind of like “Mumble..mumble…to EVERYONE!”, but he gets it.

At any rate, let me encourage you to start saying those verses with your kids and doing simple projects like this with your toddlers and preschoolers.  It’s amazing to think about God’s Word making a difference in their young lives.

This craft is based off the story of Paul and Lydia in Acts 16, but uses the verse Mark 16:15 as the main focus.

What You Need:

  • Markers, any color
  • Coffee Filter
  • Cup of water

What You Do:

  1. Have kids draw a circle in the middle of the coffee filter with a non permanent marker (a black marker is most exciting).
  2. Fold the coffee filter in half and then half again so it resembles an ice cream cone a bit.
  3. Dip just the tip in the water and watch as the water climbs up the filter and spreads the color out.
  4. After the color is done spreading, lay the filter flat on a table to dry and write the memory verse (Mark 16:15) across the top.

What About You?

What do you do to teach your little ones memory verses?
