Day #3: Judges (Ehud and Deborah) {31 Days of Bible Based Crafts}

Day #3: Judges (Ehud and Deborah) {31 Days of Bible Based Crafts}

For our Children’s Church, we’ve been working through the Stickers Through the Bible Curriculum.  During the section on Judges, one week covered two of of Israel’s judges: Ehud and Deborah.  I’ve been a huge fan of Ehud for some time (you can even read this funny poem I wrote over at Stuff Christians Like), so naturally, I focused on the left-handed judge.  In the second service, Miss Melanie focused on Deborah, so we got a well-rounded display in the art gallery that week!

By the way, this post is part of the 31 Days of Bible-Based Crafts series of 2014. To check out the road map and all the posts in this series, head on over here!

Let’s Get Started!

Israel's Judges: Ehud and Deborah

Ehud: The Left Handed Judge

What You Need:

  • Crayons
  • Construction Paper
  • Popsicle sticks (small and large would be ideal)
  • Aluminum Foil

What You Do:

For this craft, I began by having kids trace their left hand onto a piece of construction paper.  Then, draw a body (Ehud) attached to the left hand.  Have kids cover a Popsicle stick in aluminum foil and glue it in the hand.  If you have small sticks, glue it perpendicular to create a handle.  We broke a few larger ones, but that did lead to some sharp points!

Deborah: The Bold and the Brave

What You Need:

  • Green Construction Paper
  • White construction paper
  • Coloring page of Deborah (we got ours here)
  • Scissors
  • Leaf Template (optional)
  • Crayons

What You Do:

Have kids color and cut out Deborah from the coloring page.  Draw a tree on the white construction paper and place Deborah underneath it.  Using the leaf template, cut out several leaves (you might want to have some precut for the younger crowd) and glue them onto the tree.
