Minute to Win It: Million Dollar Redemption

Flickr by eg_library

In this episode of NBC’s hit game show “Minute to Win It” (Season 2, Episode 30), former contestant Heather gets a second chance at the million. I wasn’t able to catch the first half of this 2-part special, so these games will be a bit harder than usual.  Use them for adults or your youth group!

Level 5 Challenge: On the Hook

In this game, contestant must hold a chopstick in their mouth, attached to a string and open paper clip.  She has to fish 4 keys of a stand (or stool) in front of her.  Heather got a bonus 10 seconds for this game, and it’s good thing too — she finished with just 4 seconds of her 70 seconds to spare!

Level 6 Challenge: Laying Track

In this game, contestant must use staples, flipped upside down to build a track for a marble on a tilted table.  The track must go over 3 pairs of erasers and drop into a glass at the end of the table.  The lady nailed this one for $75,000!

Level 7: Caddy Stack

Heather is starting to get pretty worked up, but she feels confident about this game.  For the next level, she has to stack three golf balls and they have to stay for 3 seconds.  Sounds easy right?  Go ahead, try it at home!  She nailed it quick. Way to earn $125,000!  Now, will she go on?

Level 8: Mag-Nutstacker

Of course she will! This classic nutstacker game gets spiced up a bit at this level. Contestant must alternate stacking nuts and magnets with a chopstick.  The whole pile must be then moved to a different table before winning a  quarter of a million dollars!  And she does it again!  Amazing!  With $250,000 in the bank, of course she’s moving on!

Level 9: Get Forked

In this nearly impossible task, contest must roll a quarter 15 feet towards a fork.  The object is to get the coin catch a coin in the prongs of a fork.  This tough task did Heather in, but she still walked away with quite a wallet-full.

That’s it for now!

Minute to Win It: The Family that Plays Together

Flickr by Ultimate Amusements

What a family!  In this unique episode of Minute to Win It, the whole Canter family (mom, dad, and four daughters!) compete for the million.  Here’s some games that might be good for your family or kids ministry (lot of classic games in this episode):

Knock It Off: Click on the title to watch a video about this one.  I’ve always thought this game was ridiculously hard (especially for a level two!), but this 12 year old girl nailed it in 30 seconds, so it might be worth a shot!

Speed Eraser: For this level three game, contestants must bounce 10 pencils on their eraser to get them to land in 10 glasses lined up along a table.  It is played as a team, so each contestant has to land 5 pencils each.

Spoon Frog: Similar to Speed Eraser, check out the video below for instructions:

Nutstacker: Using a chopstick, a contestant must stack 10 bolts on top of each other without making the tower tip over.

Cantagious: For $125,000, contestant start with three full cans of soda in the right hand and three empty cans in the left.  They must switch all the cans so they end up with the three full cans in the left and empty in the right.  They cannot use the body for leverage or set down any cans.   Much harder than it sounds!  On Youtube, I saw a kid use mini-soda cans.  Might be worth a try!

That’s it for now!  Catch you next week for more Minute to Win it games!   If you’ve got some great ideas for outdoor Minute to Win it games — great for summer fun, let me know!

Minute to Win It: Million Dollar Bromance

Welcome to another edition of Monday Minute to Win It, where you can find great games for your Children or Youth ministry or for a Family fun event.  Thanks for stopping by!

This Blows

Player blows up a balloon and then uses the escaping air (letting the balloon deflate) to blow 15 plastic cups off the table.  Simple enough, but you might want to reduce the number of cups or your kids will get a headache fast!  Or you could place the cups closer to the edge of the table like in this video:

Marbles Grande

Super-sized marbles game.  Players must use white ping pong balls to knock red ones out of a hula hoop 5 feet away. This is level two round game, so they only have to knock out 4 red ones.  You could increase or decrease the balls inside the hoop to fit any skill or level.

Kick Off

Neither contestant looked happy about this game.  Players must kick cans positioned in a circle around a metal tub/basin.  Cans look to be about 4 feet around the basin.  For round three, players must make 2 cans go into the basin. It must be harder than it sounds, but certainly worth a shot.  For some messy play outside, make them cans full of soda!

Floatacious

Check out the video for full instructions on this one:

This was a level one game, and the contestants already lost a life.  Might be a little too tough with 5 cans with kids. Three should be totally do-able though.

Puddle Jumper

In this level two game, contestants must cause a ping pong ball to jump from one cup filled with water to another cup filled with water about 4 inches away.  They must do this three times.

That’s it for now!  Let me know how you’re using these games!

Monday Minute to Win it: Mother’s Day Face-off

Flickr by footloosiety

In Episode #24 (Season 2) of this hit NBC game show, two mother-daughter teams will face off to win the million! This episode worked a little differently: first team to win four games banks $50,000 and goes on for the chance at the million. Let’s see what kind of games we can snag for children’s and youth ministry or some family fun nights!

Temper Tantrum

Check out Last Beauty Standing for the full instructions on this one.  A funny one to watch for sure!

Moving On Up

This is the first I’ve seen this game, and it looks perfect for a group competition.  Player must move the red cup (which starts at the bottom of a 50 cup stack) to the top of the stack by taking cups off the top and putting them below the red one.  Check out the video for a full explanation.  These players had to alternate hands, but you could nix that rule for children’s ministry (and you might want to reduce the number of cups too!) This was a tight race!!

Face the Cookie

Check out the Kids Try This at Home post for the explanation to this classic game.  This is a huge hit with kids.  When we played this last week with the kids at church, everyone was begging to be a contestant!

Noodling Around

Check out the video to see how to play.  Might be good for older kids, but it might be too tough for the little ones (unless you changed it to 2-3 Penne pastas)

This was a fun one to watch!  Catch it on hulu in the next few days (or anytime if you have Hulu Plus).  Hope you can use some of the games.  See you next time!

Monday Minute to Win It: Law and Order

Minute to Win it

There’s some great games in this episode (Season 2, episode 23) of NBC’s Minute to Win It.  Use them for some family fun or in your Children’s and Youth Ministries.

Tilt a Cup

Similar to the original game found in the Summer Edition post.  However, in this episode, the two contestants play as a team, with one bouncing the ball and the other catching in a cup.

Disco Drop

Player leans over a pencil (held solidly in place) and drops CD’s until one lands on the pencil.  This guy nailed in 15 seconds, using only 6 CD’s!  Might be a little tougher for kids, but sounds like a great idea for youth groups.

Marbles Grande

Check out the video for instructions.  This can be played as a team or with just one player and fewer red ping pong balls.

Nutstacker

In this episode, players must work as a team, alternatively stacking 10 metal nuts on top of each other to win.   Besides the open opportunity for players to blame each other for losing, this might actually be a better way to play this game since each player has some time to get their next nut ready while the other stacks.  This power-house team did lose two lives on this game, but I think it’s still worth a try with your kids (just use fewer nuts).

Office Tennis

Check out the instructions in the Minute to Win It Office Edition post. Might be a little tough for younger kids, but preteens and teens should be able to handle it.

That’s it for now, folks.  Now, grab your stop watch and go have some fun!

Monday Minute to Win It: Kids Try This At Home

Minute to Win it

On this episode (Season 2, Episode 22),  a number of contestants compete for the big money!  Check out these games for your family time fun or children’s ministry!

Spare Me

Contestant must drop a marble down a pool noodle, sending it rolling across the floor and knocking down 10 upright markers (which are 16 feet away). Even though this was a level one game, both contestants seemed to have a really hard time with it, losing all three lives right off the bat! Might want to move those markers closer for children’s ministry!

Sticky Balls

In this challenge, the contestant must roll marbles across a flat surface in an attempt to get them to stick to double sided tape at the end of the table.  Too slow, the marble won’t make it.  Too fast, the marble will fall off the table.   This would be especially good for older kids or youth.

Face the Cookie

This is a classic Minute to Win It game we haven’t seen in awhile.  Both contestants have a cookie that they need to move from the forehead to the mouth using only their facial muscles.  They slammed this one out, and quick!  Of course, kids should love this one since it involves Oreos!

Puddle Jumper

Check out the video below for instructions.  This looks like a fun game for kids, as long as they don’t get any crazy ideas with the cups of water!

Egg Roll

Using a pizza box, the contestant must fan three eggs from a starting line to a red box across the playing arena.  Click on the game title for a youtube instruction video.

That’s it for now!

Have fun playing!
