This is a project we did around Earth Day in my home day care, but it would also make a terrific craft for the creation account or with the verse Acts 17:24:

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.

EARTH DAY COFFEE FILTER PROJECT

Earth Day (2)

What You Need:

  • Blue food coloring
  • Green food coloring
  • Eye droppers
  • Coffee Filters
  • Paper towel or cloth towel to soap up extra water
  • Water

What You Do:

Fill two small bowls with a bit of water (1/4 cup or less) and a few drops of food coloring.  Put green coloring in one bowl and blue coloring in the other.  Place  a towel under the coffee filter and move it within reach of the children.  Encourage children to use the eye droppers to suck up a bit of water and then drop it on the coffee filter.  The dye will spread and cause the filter to look like the planet Earth.

Earth Day (3)
