You’ve probably already seen the Most Popular Posts of 2013 here on Growing Kids Ministry, but I wanted to share a few of my personal favorites as well.
This post is loaded with some fun winter projects we did here at home along with links to some great resources around the web.
I love a good “off the beaten path” holiday to celebrate, and Purim is a terrific one for me. It’s rich history and emphasis on the brave young woman, Esther, make it a great lesson for the kids as well.
This is a story from my personal ministry when I choose to let my control-freak tendencies go for a night and was amazed at the results.
Inspired by the Challenge on the Hill of Fire, I spent quite a bit of time last year talking to both my own kids and the kids at church about St. Patrick, a real hero of the faith.
I wanted to make Bible study and reflection time an important time in our house, but struggled to find a good time that fit into our daily routine. When we stumbled upon nap time devotions, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Over a year later, it’s still a great time for exploring God’s Word together.

This simple lesson turned out to be a huge hit with the kids, young and old alike. I loved that they were all up and moving and completely into the lesson.
There were some AMAZING speakers at the Gathering this year, and I especially loved Megan’s keynote talk. It was so gripping and such a cool way to demonstrate what Christ has done for us. Click through the link to watch the whole presentation on video.
This is a lesson we did when we were going through Zondervan’s Curriculum: The Story (get the book for only $2.99 on Kindle). I wanted to chart out all the kings of Israel and Judah for the kids and with some audience participation, it seemed they really got the gist of things.
I told you I loved off the wall holidays. Every year, on July 12th, we suit up like cows and head to Chick-Fil-A for some fun and free food. Read all about our adventure!
