Children’s Ministry Assistant Job Description

East Lake Road Alliance Church

Erie, PA

Job Purpose: To support the Children’s Ministry director and to help create and maintain an engaging and thriving Children’s Ministry program.

Church Size:  Sunday morning average attendance: 250 people

Qualifications:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Servant’s heart with a teachable attitude
  • Commitment to the mission of East Lake Road Alliance Church
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work within deadlines
  • A love for coffee and donuts is a preferred, but not required

Responsibilities:

In Summary: To provide organizational and clerical support to the Children’s Ministry director and to the current kidmin team.  Extensive on-the-job training will be provided in order to facilitate success in this position.

Specifically:

  • Create schedules for Children’s Ministry programs including nursery, Children’s Church, and Tiny Tots. Publish, display, and distribute to workers as needed.
  • Recruit volunteers and maintain volunteer list
  • Process volunteer applications, including reference checks and background checks
  • Maintain clearances for Children’s Ministry volunteers, including those in Sunday School
  • Keep Children’s Ministry rooms cleaned and stocked
  • Gather supplies or make copies for teachers and leaders when needed
  • Maintain and update policies and display as necessary in rooms. Keep volunteers informed of any changes
  • Use the KidCheck security system and train other volunteers to do the same
  • Provide volunteer appreciation and encouragement to the team, especially the nursery team members
  • Keep toys and equipment in good repair, maintaining a regular cleaning schedule
  • Write the weekly newsletter for Children’s Ministry, in collaborate with Lindsey Whitney (or Children’s Ministry director), email to parents and post a hard copy on bulletin board
  • Make copies of curriculum and distribute to teachers when needed
  • Attend all Children’s Ministry meetings
  • Work in the infant nursery every Sunday during the second service from 10:45AM to 12:15PM or create a schedule to facilitate a consistent presence in the nursery for parents and children
  • Attend both services at church, whenever possible, at East Lake Road Alliance Church

Compensation: $10 an hour for 10 hours a week

Report to: Lindsey Whitney, Children’s Ministry director as well as Pastor Rick Rubeis
