This summer, we once again held our annual Story Time in the Park program, but we also added an “Art in the Park” component for the older kids (you can read more about the changes and reasoning in this post). Since it was going to be a shorter season for us, we decided to not recruit volunteers from our church (we were hoping to pull the story time attendees into getting a bit more involved) to serve in the park, but rather to serve through prayer.
We put up a “Join us in Prayer” board instead of our traditional sign up poster. Here’s a quick look at it:
Basically, I made clouds on the board (one of those really thick poster boards) with dates and a place to sign your name. Participants were to sign up for a particular day and then pray for the program on that day. They also removed the sun that was over the cloud to take home with them as a reminder. As you can see here, about five of the suns are missing, meaning we have five people signed up to pray thus far. Here’s a closer look:
I loved the idea of partnering with our church members in prayer for this project it was a great way to bring awareness to the program as well!
