Marathons: a vision for Christ’s church

Marathons: a vision for Christ’s church

While I finish up radiation treatments, this have been a little quiet here on Growing Kids Ministry.  I thought it might be a perfect time to share a few guest posts.  The following is an excerpt from Talking with God (released March 21st).  Read more about the book and the author, Adam Weber at adamweber.com.  I am not a runner. I like to walk. Walking is good. But running is a different story. You’ll never see me running without a legitimate reason. Like for a Chipotle burrito. I might … [Read more...]

A.D. 30 by Ted Dekker {Book Review}

A.D. 30 by Ted Dekker {Book Review}

I'm not a big fiction reader, but every once in awhile, it's nice to curl up with a good book.  One that doesn't require extensive underlining and note taking.  :)  So when I heard that Ted Dekker was releasing a new book, I was happy to take a look. My husband is a huge fan as you can see from our bookshelf. Personally, Ted Dekker's books, Black , Red, and White (The Circle Series) are among my favorite books of all time and I was excited to see what he would do with some historical … [Read more...]

What We’re Reading Wednesday

What We’re Reading Wednesday

Hey Everyone!  We haven't had much time to read this week, since I've been busy PACKING! And it's about as interesting as a book full of statistics. Oh wait. It IS a book full of statistics.  That would explain why it took me six months to finish it.  It's not exactly what you would call "easy reading". That being said, George … [Read more...]

Purpose of Liturgy: It’s not about you

Purpose of Liturgy: It’s not about you

Just finished up a review of the book Constant Prayer.  The author has so many gems in the book, I thought I'd share a few here.  Pick up your own copy and take a look! In this excerpt, taken from pages 46-48, the author explains the true purpose of liturgy, and how it's commonly misunderstood. I was having a conversation with a pastor of a far more liturgical church than the one I was raised in.  The pastor was telling me about Bill, a man in the church who was complaining about so … [Read more...]
