Final 2 Weeks in the Music Giveaway!

Flickr by craigCloutier

Just got an email from Bob at God’s Kids Worship.  Here’s what he said:

Just a short note to let you know that we’re in the final 2 weeks of our summer kids ministry music give-away. We anticipate that we’ll give away around $5,000 worth of DVDs, CDs & downloads in these last 2 weeks, alone. We’re picking up the pace and value as we push toward the beginning of a new year for kids ministries all over the world.

The response has been tremendous. We’ve given away around $10,000 worth of stuff in the first month and a half, and we’ve been hearing great stuff back from our kids ministry friends!

In these final two weeks, the daily prizes will increase in value and ministry impact. Could you please let your ministry readers know that we want them to be eligible? Just tell them to go to our Facebook page, and “like” us. That’s all. They’ll get notices about the daily give-aways until it ends on August 15th with our biggest give-away ever.

Well, what are you waiting for?  Get on over to facebook and win some great stuff!

Spring Song Line-up

2829180521_4847a6e49f

We’ve been talking  about praising God when we sing during Kids for Christ (Wednesday nights) and Children’s Church (Sundays).  Even though we often have fun while praising and worshipping God, we want to make sure the kids know it’s all about God, and not about us.  We also want families to have the opportunity to praise and worship God at home, in the car, or wherever they are!  We’ve made a Spring song list (below) for the Children’s Ministry and we’ll be concentrating on these songs for the next few months in order to help the kids learn them better.  We are planning to make a CD that families can purchase with the Spring song list as well.  Many of the songs can be found on Amazon or Group.com, if families want to get a head start!

Yancy not Nancy: CD/DVD Review

Yancy’s new CD/DVD, “Stars, Guitars, and Megaphone Dreams”, has been released and you could win a copy! I received my preview copy Wednesday and have been jamming to it ever since.  I love the way Yancy weaves Scripture seamlessly into her songs, keeping the music catchy and fun.  She’s got a great mix of upbeat and slower songs, and I can see this CD completely appealing to the preteen crowd.  I’m anxious to play the DVD for some of our kids at church as see what they think.

Interested in your own set?  Leave a comment, sharing one of your current top 3 fave songs and you’ll be entered in the drawing! Contest ends on November 20th.  In the meantime, head on over to Yancy’s site to preview some of the music!

* Update, this contest is now over.  Comments are closed.  Thank you. *

The Lads: A New Preteen Ministry Curriculum

I just saw an ad for “The Lads” from Cokesbury, a preteen curriculum that uses DVD and CD. I headed on over the Cokesbury website and watched an intro video. Released in July 2010, this looks to be a quirky curriculum that will especially appeal to boys. There are three guys in a band who are looking for “The Secret of the Universe”. Here’s What Cokesbury has to say about the curriculum:

Rockin’ Faith for Tweens!

Cokesbury and The Lads are pleased to introduce Secrets of the Universe, a new multimedia experience designed to share simple truths about God’s love in a way that reaches the hearts, minds, and funny bones of your tweens.

What You Get:

The Starter Kit includes the Commander’s Guide with DVD-ROM, a Mission Handbook, and a comic book (both are also sold separately). The Commander’s Guide features five episodes from the wacky and entertaining television show called LadsTV (DVD) that are sure to engage your tweens. Kids will participate in games and activities that lead to the discovery of the six important “secrets” of the universe.

Using video, music, comics, and a mission handbook, The Lads create a fun and interactive faith-building experience that will get tweens rockin’, laughing, and connecting with God with these universal truths:

I was meant to be!
God loves me, no matter what!
God has a rescue plan for me!
I can come alive in Jesus!
I can know God!

It’s NOT a secret…go and tell!
This resource fits a variety of church settings for your tweens.

Starter kit sells for $30 — certainly worth taking a look at! You can check out previews on the website. I especially like the comic book style of retelling the Bible story (after kids have looked it up in their Bibles). I know we’re always looking for something new and fresh for our “constantly bored” preteens (they really are good kids, you just have to keep things moving!). The Lads have their own website where you can hear “Lads Radio”, send the band members and email, and lots of other things — something I think would would be a big hit with tweens. You can even book the Lads to perform a concert! I’m getting excited about this possibility for our church. Maybe it will work for your church as well!

Okay, not quite related. This is about Moses, but it’s the Veggie Tales rapping, and pretty funny.
