Super Simple Crafts for the Littlest of Hands

Hello! A few days ago, I was honored to present at the INCM Early Childhood Webinar.  I promised I would try to post pictures of some of the crafts I shared during that webinar for those of you who might not have been able to take notes at the time. These crafts are perfect for ages 6 months through about 5 years old. 10 Essential Craft Supplies To begin, you want to make sure your cupboards are stocked with these essential supplies.  With these things on hand, you can do almost any of the … [Read more...]

N is for Nest (Preschool Alphabet Activity)

N is for Nest (Preschool Alphabet Activity)

This is a high sensory activity we did right after Easter last year, but you could do it any time of the year. You'll need some basket grass and some playdough (we made our own).  We used brown since many birds use mud to hold their nests together. To begin, encourage kids to form a little bowl with the playdough. If you have very little ones, you might want to give them a bowl to press the dough into. Once the dough is in a small bowl shape, add the basket grass, moving it around … [Read more...]

Our Favorite Learning Stations for Preschoolers

Our Favorite Learning Stations for Preschoolers

One of the things we love to do in our children's church program is set up stations for the kids to engage with after the lesson.  We have a brief 5 minute lesson, reading from scripture (this or this are some of favorite Bibles for little ones) and then let the kids engage in their own way through various stations.   I have many lesson-specific stations listed on this website, but I wanted to share a couple of our tried-and-true stand-bys as well. Station #1: Blocks Whether it's the … [Read more...]

Battle of the Bears (Telling the Story of Gideon with Counting Bears)

Battle of the Bears (Telling the Story of Gideon with Counting Bears)

This last week in Children's Church, we were covering the story of Gideon (Judges 6-8).  I have a pretty young class right now - a lot of preschool and kindergarten, so we've been using the Preschool version of The Gospel Project.  I love the super simple suggestions for activities and the kids seem to love them! This week, we talked a lot about sorting since Gideon whittled his army down by sorting the men.   I happened to have some counting bears at home (one of our kindergarten … [Read more...]

Paper Plate Flowers (Preschool, Kindergarten)

Paper Plate Flowers (Preschool, Kindergarten)

Last Monday, we hosted our first Arts and Crafts in the Park of the year.  I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of numbers, so I wanted a craft that could easily accommodate whoever came our way.  The winner?  Paper plate flowers! This craft was originally geared towards preschool and kindergarten, but we had kids of all ages wanting to give it a try during our Arts and Crafts at the park program.  It's a nice one, because you can make it as simple or complex as you like. Ready to get … [Read more...]
