Ah, the ever present pink and red of Valentine’s Day!  If you’re looking for a few great Valentine’s Day  picture books and a simple craft for preschoolers, you’ve come to the right place.  I love this craft because it helps me get to know the kids at my home day care better and it’s a great decoration for the week of Valentine’s Day!

We usually begin by reading a few Valentine’s Day books such as:

CRAFT TIME

To begin, make a tree on poster board with brown makers or paint.  Be sure to account for drying time!

Cut out hearts from construction paper using either a puncher or freehand.  Make sure the hearts are big enough to write a name on them.

Gather the kids around the tree, and taking turns, ask them about people that they love.  Write the names they give on a heart and place it onto the Valentine’s Day tree. When everyone has had a turn to name 3-4 people, label the tree “People We Love” and hang it where all the parents can see!
