With the days growing longer and the sun starting to (finally) make an appearance, summer looks like it might actually come around! And of course, summer means some serious ministry fun! If you’re doing a Vacation Bible School this year, you’re probably already thinking about decorations, crafts, and snacks.
I’ve been amazed at some of the fun ideas I’ve spotted around the blogosphere already. Here’s a few of the treasures I’ve spotted that coordinate with Group’s Weird Animal Vacation Bible School. Of course, many of the ideas might go along with a jungle or underwater theme as well!
Check them out!
Under the Sea (Ocean Fun!)
Crepe Paper Sea Weed (User upload to Pinterest)
Use crepe paper and balloons to recreate the bottom of the ocean floor. Add some Bubble Peel and Stick Wall Decals for even more fun!
Under the Ocean Floor (User upload on Pinterest )
Plastic Banquet Table Roll draped from the ceiling along with paper plate fish and construction paper star fish.
Balloon Sea Horse by Hollie Nagel Balloon Decor
Isn’t this amazing? If you don’t have the time or talent to construct this — Grab some seahorse mylar balloons instead. Cut the strings at different lengths to create a terrific layering effect. Best news — the mylar’s will last all week!
It’s a Jungle Out There!
No directions on how to make this, but I think some felt by the yard would work. Cut into the shape of a blade of grass, make a crease by ironing (use a press cloth in between to prevent melting!) and then hot glue felt to dowel rods. Secure in a wood base. Just an idea!
Duct Tape Water Bottles by Hostess with the Mostess
Super simple and what a pop of color. I actually just bought some of that Zebra Printed Duct Tape last week!
A Couple Extras for You!
DIY Chalkboard Signs from JoAnn Fabrics
These easy-to-make signs would be great for any theme and you could even use them to display the day’s key verse or Bible story. Grab the full directions on JoAnn’s website.
Stop back again soon!
I’ll be trying to put up some decoration ideas for the other VBS themes as well, so stop by often (and like Growing Kids Ministry on facebook) and check out the new ideas!
